July is here, and with it some of the hottest movie releases of the summer, both for theater and home viewing. Among the most anticipated on the year, Watchmen is now available for pre-order on websites like Amazon.com, in Bluray or DVD format.

The official date for release is set for July 21st, and already fans are going crazy, boosting pre-order sales through the roof. Already, this is one of the highest selling movies of the year, and it looks as though it would be fair to say that their sales for the home will be just under box office sales during their stretch on the big screen.

When asked what it was about the movie that fans found so entertaining and irresistible, there were several reason given. The main one was the special effects, with the story line coming in a close second.

Surprisingly, few of the hardcore movie fans had read (or even heard of) the original graphic novel that was created in the 80’s, and still remains one of the most popular graphic novels of all time. But the success of the movie has created fresh interest in the comic, which has generated even more sales since last summer’s Watchmen release.
